- One evening in August 2006, I downloaded the trial version of Adobe Elements, loved it and for the next 3 months, was totally absorbed learning how to use such fun software . I quickly realised that whilst editing can do a lot for not so good photos (polite term for "crap")it was actually better to be creative with good images - and so my love of photography was re-ignited. This Blog is part of my creative journey. I have a lot to learn but the motivation of getting out there to tick off the themes gives me good practice. All of these images are so good, wow! The 2nd one of Roo is really striking composition-wise but I'm not entirely sure why. His relationship to the water is certainly the subject in the water, you've defintely defined that - perhaps its the angle that makes this image? Absolutely love this one.
I also really like these 2 with the dogs, again, the one with Roo works for me. I uploaded these last night and as soon as I saw it on the screen, I realised it was a good one. I think it is because everything is right - the light, exposure, composition (with the water framing the shot) and Roo, stood in exactly the right place - only a slight crop to "fill the frame". The other thing that works is the colour combination - opposite spectrums. All serendipity but useful for future reference.

Oh, wow, I love these too! Pat is right, the composition in the second shot is super. But, the first one is excellent too. It tells a story without even adding the words. These dogs are clearly not too enthusiastic!
This is funny because I've just had 3 days at the cottage watching my comparatively little Hamish relate to the comparatively little beach on our lake. I will try to post a photo at some point of how he reacts to the waves...
