Sunny MondayBeing so fed up with the weather here, and hearing that the east coast was going to be sunny, we decided to leave the west coast and head east to the sunshine. One of the benefits on living on a small island, and being on the narrowest bit of the UK, it is only a 2 hour drive coast to coast. Sure enough, we found the sun. Not what we normally do on a Monday, but it was worth it, we had a great day.
I really like this shot (look at it big), which is a rare thing for me to say about my own images. I think the composition has really worked.
I used Matt's Vividity 1, and toned it down a bit.

This does work beautifully and it's a good thing to recognize when it does, especially for your own work. Composition is spot on I think, with emphasis on the land rather than the sea in this case, beautiful light!! The green is seaweed then? YOUR angle is really good as well as you've captured the "roll" or curve of the land (rocks as a whole) toward the sea - hope that makes sense, it does to me! YOU've a right to be happy about this one, all of the series in fact. What a lovely place to be for the day, wow!
Linda, this is a stunning photo!
I completely agree with you, it's fantastic being able to go from coast to coast, I am going to miss that. (Since we are now moving).
It was a bit weird though, coming from Sweden on the plane. going over the Borders to Glasgow, off the plane and then drive back to the east coast.
You have posted some beautiful pictures, I will check back with you tonight, now it's evening time and I have two little one's that craves my attention.. :)
Linda, this is an awesome photo! I echo everything Pat has said about your composition. It is perfect! What time of day did you shoot? It looks so deserted!
Thanks Julie, it was taken at 2 in the afternoon - Amazing to have such a place with so few people. It is usual though, especially the North East coast - it doesn't attract many holiday makers, those cold east winds can put a damper on a holiday, a lot of people now just go to Spain for some heat and sun. There were a few people around though, and a newly acquired restaurant/cafe, so there is hope.
I think it's fantastic, and I love the point of view, and the sweeping scene away!
What they said! :-)
Very nice indeed.
