Pretty colors and nice dof. You have some perfect lighting there too...

Thanks Julie, today's burst of shots is due to the fact I bought a little white tent to diffuse the light. Fairly inexpensive and quite pleased with the effect.

The good DOF is what I noticed first.

I have one of those boxes, how are you lighting yours? I can't seem to get the lighting right from the side and/or top.

So far so good. However, Pat, I know I am not as observant as you and I haven't quite developed the "eye" yet. I produce what I think is a good photo, only to review it later and notice that the crop is not quite right or I have not managed the light as well as I had thought.

I have been using this tent next to a south facing window as the light as been poor here lately, I needed to maximise the available light. It did the trick and reduced the glare.

I was really pleased with the "Gold" theme, which I had tried previously and had too many problems with highlights. This time, every shot was perfectly exposed with only a very slight clipping at the worst.

Sometimes I used the halogen lamp that I have in my office - had that shining directly into the tent on the opposite side of the window. Not sure that was necessary, but in a couple did give a slightly warmer glow on that side.

I used manual settings throughout, on a tripod with quite long shutter speeds - a big benefit of working with inanimate objects :-)
