I have been reading a book called "Index" which I have found very informative. Felt motivated to practice some composition, so used some of my food supplements, which I take to support my health!!
Unfortunately, I was so engrossed in the composition side, I forgot to check all of my settings and it was that old chestnut - the ISO!!!! I seem to have a blind spot with ISO. I thought with the 40D I would not make this mistake again as it is so prominently displayed on LCD on the top of the camera! So I am now making a public declaration: ALWAYS CHECK THE ISO (dummy!). In these pictures it is 640 :-(
Back to composition.
The first two shots are exactly the same compostion, just taken at different angles.

In this photo I have set one of the smallest bottles at the back, but still given it prominence by its colour, position and focus.
This was a useful exercise and really illustrated (to me at least) the beginnings of thinking through the composition and why some photos work and others just don't.Oh, and the supplements were very useful, not just for my health - lol

Good idea to show the different ways of composing the image. It is easy to forget that, especially with things that aren't movable. I always need to remind myself to try shooting from different angles. Often the second or third option turns out to be the best shot...
It's good to experiment and see new things and ways of looking - and it's been great to see your results here, with such a good end result!
Thanks for the composition lesson - very interesting exercise. Good for you!
I love the last photo, very clever to play out different angles.
