Very jagged! And it is a fantastic shot. Great leading lines and interesting tones. Plus, the focal point is as sharp as can be!
I've been examining it for a bit now and think a really important point of visual interest is the variation in the DOF. In the right foreground a bit of the wood is in focus but the barbed wire isn't in focus until partway back into the frame. That also helps lead the eye to the back of the frame. I assume that worked because the wire is just a bit higher than the wood and you shot on an angle to both. Very neat how that worked!
I was quite pleased the way this one turned out. I have been taking pictures of barbed wire on this particular "dog walk" for a while now, sure there was a shot if I could get the angle right. I used a central focusing point to get the metering and focus exactly on the tip and deliberately used the wood fence as a leading line as well - I particularly liked the wood grain. The fence was also a handy "tripod" - lol.
The shot was processed in Lightroom using Matt's surreal edgy effect - which in this case really enhanced the image without actually changing it much. The other big improvement was white balance set on cloudy - this gave it extra warmth.
The DOF was necessary and again worked in my favour, because it was a dull day and I needed the aperture to be wide open.
Isn't photography great - who would have thought a piece of barbed wire could be so thought provoking - lol!
One evening in August 2006, I downloaded the trial version of Adobe Elements, loved it and for the next 3 months, was totally absorbed learning how to use such fun software . I quickly realised that whilst editing can do a lot for not so good photos (polite term for "crap")it was actually better to be creative with good images - and so my love of photography was re-ignited.
This Blog is part of my creative journey. I have a lot to learn but the motivation of getting out there to tick off the themes gives me good practice.
Please look through and feel free to comment, which I welcome and appreciate.
Thanks for stopping by.

I'd say jagged enough; really like the shallow DOF you used here.

Great lighting and dof - were they straight out of the camera, or adjusted? Oh and it fits jagged, I'd say!
